What does LED stand for?
LED means Light Emitting Diode.
Why are LEDs more efficient than traditional fluorescent bulbs?
LEDs convert most of their energy into light instead of heat, making them up to 80–90% more efficient than incandescent bulbs.
How long do LED lights last?
LED strips and fixtures last a minimum of 50,000 hours. At typical business hours that equals a 12 year lifespan. If you burn your lights 24 hours a day, 365 that equals 5 years.
Do LEDs save money?
Yes. They use less electricity and last longer, reducing both energy bills and replacement costs. Typical projects save a minimum of 60-70% on energy and maintenance costs. No more calling an electrician to replace a burned out light. No more climbing ladders.
Do LEDs come in different colors?
Yes. They’re available in warm white (3000k), cool white (4000k) and daylight (5000k). 4000k is the recommended color for business and industrial applications.
How does the Duke Energy Rebate Program Work?
If you are served by Duke Energy you are eligible for the rebates. Duke actually encourages businesses to convert because it needs to reduce energy consumption on the grid. A typical 2x4 fixture that is in most businesses receives a $44 rebate. Rebates usually add up to 1/2 to 3/4 of the Total Project Cost.
